Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) refers to products designed to protect the wearer or user from health and safety hazards. PPE plays a vital role in safeguarding users in hazardous or high-risk work environments, as well as in domestic or recreational settings.
To ensure PPE products placed on the EU market are safe and reliable, the EU Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016/425 came into effect on 21 April 2018. All PPE products sold within the European market must undergo appropriate testing and conformity assessment to demonstrate compliance with the Regulation and relevant harmonised standards, and must bear the CE marking on the product and accompanying documentation.
For Category III PPE, which protects against the highest levels of risk, the Regulation additionally requires annual factory audits or product sample testing to be performed by a Notified Body.
As an EU Notified Body (No. 2834) designated by the European Commission for PPE, and as a UK Approved Body (No. 1105) authorised by the UK Government, CCQS provides professional, efficient, and high-quality testing, certification, auditing, and training services for all types of PPE products.
