What is UKCA certification?
UKCA certification, also known as United Kingdom Conformity Assessed, is a new UK product safety certification mark. The purpose of the UK government's launch of this logo is to replace the CE logo with it after Brexit, which will officially come into effect from January 1, 2021.
Due to the Brexit agreement between the UK and Europe, the UKCA logo is currently only applicable to products launched on the market in England, Scotland, and Wales. The UKCA logo alone cannot be used for products launched in the Northern Ireland market. In Northern Ireland, products need to use the UKNI or CE logo.
What is the Construction Product Regulation (CPR)?
The European Regulation 305/2011/EU of the Building Product Regulation (CPR) was put into use in 2016 to ensure the provision of reliable performance information for building products. This is achieved by providing a "General technology language" and a unified method for evaluating the performance of building products. This new European regulation introduces a new fire safety classification for cables used in construction projects, which can be defined as buildings and other civil engineering projects. In the event of a fire, relevant safety regulations should be followed, including limiting the generation and spread of fire and smoke in buildings.
