Home > LowVoltage Directive

LVD covers most electrically powered consumer, IT, office and retail equipment. Although primarily focused on electrical safety, it also covers mechanical hazards where they exist, for example domestic washing machines and food processors are covered by LVD.

The border of scope between LVD and MD is sometimes hard to define, for example domestic and office printers are in the scope of LVD, but large commercial printing machines are in scope of MD. CCQS can help you decide which Directive is more appropriate for your product.

Conformity with the requirements of LVD is almost totally based on assessment and testing against the requirements of harmonised standards. While there is no longer provision for use of a Notified Body, CCQS can advise you which standards are most appropriate and can assist you in arranging testing.
